One of the first and most important events in Latvian culture - the 1st Song Festival - took place in Viesturdārzs (then Ķeizardārzs). The historic occasion inspired the idea to reconstruct the stage of the 1st Song Festival in a new, contemporary form together with the local citizens. 50 transformable benches, made from the pine wood of the Mezaparks Stage, create a scenographic and symbolic stage for concerts, workshops, seminars, meetings and other events. Between events, visitors are able to move the benches as they wish and use them for individual seating, thus participating in the contemporary practice of intervening with the urban environment.
