We are pleased to announce that Mailītis arhitekti together with MARK arhitekti project "Baltic Shine" has won the 1st prize in the international competition for the architecture of the Riga Philharmonic. Light, shimmering volumes complement the existing modernist building and open it up to the city and the park.

The project proposes to open the originally closed volumes by making deliberate carvings in the existing substance to connect with the park and the canal and to create a continuous public space on the ground level. Three concert halls and premises for resident and guest artists are encompassed into four red dolomite-clad volumes. The main acoustic hall is intended for an audience of 1300, supported by a small hall for 350 visitors and a rehearsal hall.
