One of the first and most important events of Latvian culture – the first Song Festival – took place in Viesturdārzs (then Ķeizardārzs). The historic occasion inspired the idea to reconstruct the first Festival’s stage in a new, contemporary form together with the local community. Fifty transformable benches, made from local pine wood, create a scenographic and symbolic stage for concerts, workshops, seminars, meetings and other events. Between events, visitors are able to move the benches as they wish and use them for individual seating, thus participating in the change of urban environment directly.
